W2SB Challenge #15: In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb

Welcome to the new W2SB Challenge for March!  This is Annie, your guest host for this month :-)

"In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb"
by Lorie Hill
March roars in like a lion
So fierce,
The wind so cold,
It seems to pierce.

The month rolls on
And Spring draws near,
And March goes out
Like a lamb so dear.

March is always an interesting and unpredictable weather month.  I'm sure we've all seen snow, wind, hail, rain, and sunshine at some time during the month.  There are a lot of options for your weather-themed projects and we can't wait to see them.  Or, if you'd like to use a LION or LAMB, please do!

The I-Teamers have created some amazing projects to help inspire you. Our Guest Designer on the I-Team is Erika.  Her winning hashtag card in January was perfect for the theme and this month's card is just so bright and happy! Love how she incorporated the rainbow's colors in her patterned papers.

Penny's card with the colorful, tumbling umbrellas and wonderful sentiment is sure to wash away those rainy day blues!

Sybrina's cards always tell such wonderful stories and this one is no exception.  The sun will always shine...sometime!  I'm crazy about those embossed clouds and the sun rays!

Bobbi went off in a different direction, a sunburst card!

Greta went with the lion for her inspiration, and boy oh boy, is this a handsome masculine card! Love all that fabulous texture.
And, for my card, in my neck of the woods, it is always puddle stompin' weather in March.  But I don't mind...I LOVE rubber boots - especially wild, colorful ones!
 Annie

Oh, did I mention it's also my birthday month!  Well, because it's my birthday, I feel like offering a little birthday present to the winner of this challenge.  How about a $15 gift certificate to The Stamps of Life?  Sound good?  TSOL carries adorable stamp sets, matching dies, great cardstock, and other great products.  The winner of this Challenge will surely enjoy a little shopping spree:-)

Okay...go play in the snow, rain, or sunshine and show us what March weather means to you!  Have fun!

So, who made something completely out of the box?!?!

Cebelica, that's who!  Check out this gorgeous black and white project:

Sybrina and I agreed that her use of ribbon and embellishments made for a beautiful, unusual project.  It was a tough choice, there were a lot of great entries, using a lot of great techniques.  Thanks for taking up the challenge!!!

Cebelica, email me at BobbisTreasure at aol dot com to claim your prize!!!

Annie from Pawsitive Thoughts by Annie will be hosting our March Challenge.  Wonder what she has planned for us?!?  Come back on March 1 and join in the fun!

W2SB Challenge #14: Do Something Different

Great January challenge - #ThanksSybrina!!  Hard to believe the holidays are more than a month past, and I'm starting to look forward to warmer weather.  For me, that means paying close attention to Punxsutawney Phil and his prediction for an early spring!!!  Hey, a girl can hope, can't she?

One of my favorite movies is Groundhog Day, where Phil (Bill Murray) experiences the same day over and over, until he learns a few life lessons and does the right things for the right reasons.

Rita: Do you ever have Déjà vu?
Phil: Didn’t you just ask me that?

Do you ever feel like you're in a crafting rut? I tend to get into a rut in the winter time, doing the same things over and over.  I think it is time to mix things up a bit!

This month, we challenge you to do something different than your usual crafting style. If you usually make clean and simple projects, go fancy. If you tend to use a lot of layers, try a one layer card. If you use digital images, go old school and use stamps and ink. If you always make a card, try making a different kind of project.

Link up your project by February 21, and describe what you’ve done differently.  Did you learn something?  Rediscover a forgotten technique?  Tell all!!!

PolkaDotRosie is our guest designer this month.  She was our merriest entrant for our December challenge - Eat, Drink, and Be Merry.  She is a woman after my own heart!!!  Look at all of her different elements!  Definately not CAS, her usual style!

Penny was inspired to use some of that pretty designer paper that she tends to hoard.

Annie used her new airbrush system to try her hand at creating a different kind of background.
Annie
Bernadette made desk calendars for her Stamp Clubbers.
Bernadette
Greta decided to use alcohol inks to make some pretty paper. She then die cut her alcohol-inked paper to embellish her lovely card.
Greta
Sybrina got a head start on craft show ornaments.

Finally, clean-and-simple me made a totally frou, frou card!

Bobbi
In honor of our Guest Designer PolkaDotRosie - our prize this month is a MFT set of POLKA DOT alphabet stamps!!! And, of course, our winning crafter will receive our W2SB Winner Badge and be invited to join us as a Guest I-Teamer for an upcoming challenge.

#andtheW2SBbadgegoesto...

... Erika for her striking hashtag thank you card!

Erika, we loved the way your bold sentiment popped against that patterned paper. Please contact me at cards[dot]by[dot]sybrina[at]gmail[dot]com about cashing in on your prize to Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Our thanks to everyone who joined us for our first challenge of 2015.

So, what's in store for February? Let's just say it's perfect for all of us who've experienced a crafting rut or two. Hope to see you next month.  :)

W2SB Challenge #13: #youchoosetheword(s)

Happy 2015!

Sybrina here with wishes from our entire team for a wonderful New Year. We hope you like our first 2015 challenge -- an out-of-the-box challenge to kick off our second year. But before we get to Challenge #13....

It's hard to imagine that W2SB is one year old today! Huge thanks to everyone who made our first year possible: my partner-in-craft Bobbi, our amazing Inspiration Team, sponsors, friends, Guest Designers and last, but certainly not least, all of you who found our blog, left lovely comments, and/or entered our challenges. Thanks so much!

As we start a new year of challenges, we have a couple of changes to our I-Team.
  • We send our thanks and best wishes to I-Teamer Mary Anne who will not be able to join us on a regular basis this year. Mary Anne, we loved your clever creations and hope you join us for a challenge or two this coming year.
  • We welcome Greta to our team. Greta, who blogs at GG Creations, joined us for a number of challenges in 2014 and won our November challenge. Greta, we can't wait to see what you have in store for us this coming year.

Hashtags

It seems like it's impossible to watch television these days without a hashtag (#) message appearing in the corner of the screen. A hashtag is a word or phrase used on social-networking sites (such as Twitter or Instagram) that is preceded by a hash mark (#). It is used within a message to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for it.

Examples include:
  • #sandiegofire -- used to coordinate an emergency response to last spring's San Diego fire,
  • #decembertoremember -- used in a holiday commercial for a luxury car, and
  • #tribalcouncil -- used on a popular reality show.
W2SB #13: #youchoosetheword(s)

Our first challenge of the New Year is to make a card or project that includes a hashtag sentiment.
There are stamp sets with hashtag sentiments that you could certainly use. But, maybe, you'll take this opportunity to make a card or project with a uniquely personal sentiment for the coming  year.
  • #kudostothenewestohiostatealum for a college graduation from Ohio State
  • #happyfortiethdad for Dad's milestone birthday
  • #bestwishesjackandjill for your friend Jill's upcoming wedding
Inspiration Cards

Our newest I-Teamer Greta's card is perfect to ring in the New Year or celebrate a birthday. Love her choice of papers and patterns!

Greta

Annie's card is a perfect New Year's card. How clever to use gems as champagne bubbles!

Annie

Penny's card is sure to bring a smile to a friend or loved one in need of a pick me up. Penny's cards always have such fun, creative elements, and those banners, doily, and brad make for a perfect focal point.

Penny

Bobbi's cards always have such wonderful texture! I love that pop of red against the crispness of her embossed white background.

Bobbi

Newly-retired me is in the process of deciding what this stage of life will hold. So, it's #createthelifeyouwant for me! (Appropriately, I gave this card to our mail carrier yesterday because TODAY marks the first day of her retirement. Thanks and best wishes, Patsy.)

Sybrina

This Month's  Prize Package
